Ramblings
Grasses are one of the most under utilized decorative plant, and I must say one of the most beautiful. I don't want to be talking "nature channel" here. I just wanted to comment on it. I actually took this photo the other day, then I messed around with it a little. One could almost find something else in there, almost unrecognizable, just the texture and the simplicity is fabulous. That's why I love grasses. In fact, on another subject favorite smells cut grass is high on my list! It so reminds me of summer, when the grass has been dormant all winter, then springs rain flourishes quick the green. Growing taller we are doing nothing but taming it for the rest of summer. But especially, the first cut, and the smell is so green itself, earthy and warm ... that is the smell of summer. It's a marker that warm, carefree days are to come. That the sun will be there faithfully every day to warm and brown you. Crickets and frogs start creaking away as dragonflies search the sky.
Rain comes and you grow, sun comes and you grow and we are there to enjoy the soft blanket that lay beneath our feet, bare toes dig in to your coolness, soft underneath our sea of green. There is no more peaceful scene to me than that of rolling green hills and blue skies, nothing. An endless vast of grass would be what I'd like to see outside my windows. Now, neighbors electric blue paint is glowing and changing my light inside.
