First Day of Autumn

The shadows do grow long as the earth turns it's axis away from the sun. I dare say not that summer is gone but her older - more wiser - sister has taken her place. The new year for school as we put our sweaters on and look to the edifice of higher knowledge.

Must it be that full glorious show of color makes a last hoorah for its soon barren branches will make way for the heavy load of snow that will soon lay upon it. We're serious now, putting our nose to the books and fall settles us down. Down to earth as the leaves do fall, colorless with no distractions at all. Like all good hoarders, we are preparing for the next season. We dig in tight and focus on what sacrifices we make now won't bear us the most fruit come next summer. So long angst solstice, autumnal equinox now here.
